The 35th Anniversary of Dave's Guitar Shop was on July 1st, 2017. Up until that point, most of the stellar reputation of the Shop was purely due to word of mouth, with very minimal advertising. My goal with this event was to do the first large scale advertising campaign for Dave's Guitar Shop. We primarily used Vintage Guitar Magazine, Social Media, Local Radio, and our own website to promote the event. The large draws of the event were the many items we had manufacturers donate for giveaway (all proceeds going to a local charity) and the Q&A with Paul Smith, the founder of PRS Guitars. All in all, the event was a huge success as we had more customers in the store than we had ever had before, and had a fantastic sales day in the middle of the summer, when guitar sales are normally slow. We also greatly increased the public image and mystique of the shop through the campaign and the event.
A large part of the campaign was advertising all of the giveaways for the charity giveaway. The goal was to keep the event and the giveaway in the publics mind by posting something new about it each day before the event for about a month, and adding Facebook advertising to the mix to help target the most relevant people.
